water pump

I did not take the water pump out of the lower case when I dis-assembled.

Question: If I try to turn the water pump gear from the inside, should it turn easily? It does not and I am wondering if it is seized or if this is the way it should be?
Thanks
Dave

Yes it should turn fairly easy, the only drag would be an oil seal and a mechanical seal, as long as you hold the top end of shaft straight because top of shaft is not supported by top case allowing shaft to wobble possibly allowing impeller to bind and scrape housing.
When cases are apart is the time to go over pump, it is much easier to remove when open compared to cases together.

I know because I didn't address the pump on my first one and soon after it was running it started leaking coolant, they are not so easy when together, I didn't make that mistake on the second one.
