SRIS questions for GT550 build

Questions are for the 1972 GT550 cafe build.

The crankcase has the early-style press fit SRIS fittings. Any tip on how to install them?

A pic of how Suzuki originally routed the SRIS lines on the underside of the crankcase would be useful.

Here's a pic from my '74 GT380. Not sure if the GT550 is the same or not.

Thanks. I think the GT550 routing will be a bit different because of the starter motor.

Hi
I have a 550 J but it has the screw in SRIS valves and i have no experience of the push fit ones.
However there is a Suzuki bulletin GT18 which has some info and diagrams that may help.

SRIS was an unnecessary experiment which really didn't do very much. I take them out.

Later GT380s didn’t have SRIS. Suzuki used bolts + washers to replace the crankcase SRIS fittings. So I got rid of the SRIS on the GT380 cafe build.

But my early GT550 has press-fit SRIS fittings so I can’t use the bolts. So I’m going to keep SRIS.

Perhaps a plus for SRIS might be that if the oiling is a little uneven with a cylinder not getting as much as the other, the SRIS might act to even it out a bit.

My current thought is that I should put the SRIS fittings in the freeze for a while.
Might also be advisable to put them in first in case I break one & have to replace it.

I seem to recall that they are a taper fit, so it should be possible to clean teh hole, smear on a little loctite and ring them in - or give them a light tap.

On the only 72 GT550 I have worked on, we drilled and tapped the holes and plugged them - the same way we plug GT750 SRIS holes. If you go that way, don't forget to plug the barrels too..

The ones on my cylinders were press-fit. A tap and set screw with lock-tite fixed that.....

How time flies, or more accurately how slow we work on our builds. A year ago I asked about the SRIS and am now ready to install the lines.

Any suggestions on how to install the little clips that secure the SRIS lines?
