Gaskets - Tired old concept...

Post by granitize »

Pretty tough to get new gaskets for my 1969 T-20.

The existing gasket between the block and the head are somewhat intact...

Can I reinforce them with a Gasket sealer?

See reference to these products.

I purchased Permatex Motoseal Powersport GasketMaker today... but am unsure if it's the right stuff...

Is it proper/appropriate installation to apply a thin coat of this(or whatever the instructions say... to the existing gasket and just reset the parts together? Taking the gasket all the way off will be extremely difficult.

Thanks

If you can get one off mostly in tact, making new ones is not that difficult.

Lane
If you stroke it more than twice; you're playing with it.

Too many bikes, too much time, ENOUGH SPACE, FINALLY! Never enough money.........

I did my card gaskets... but the material I have, and can get, is a bit thicker than these... does a little thicker matter?
How perfect does it have to be?
