Suzuki 2 Strokes

Hey,
I have a conundrum.
2 cylinders ... 2 pistons.

I know that the arrow point forward... but does one piston go into a specific cylinder?
When I took them out they were thick with carbon!!!

Now that they are cleaned up I notice that one has an "E" and one has an "F".
Does it matter? Other than they were in there for a long time?

Are they both the same size?
Do they both have the ring locating pins in the same place?
Do they have any holes in different places?
If the answers are, yes, yes and no, then they are interchangeable.
However, as a general rule it is advisable to always make a note of which bore they came from and put them back in the same bore.
This is so that the rings and pistons are matched to the bore they have been bedded into. If you are fitting new rings, it is less important.
Are you fitting new rings?
If so don't forget to hone the bores of the barrels.

Per the parts diagram there is only one part # for each of the sizes (standard, oversize 0.5 & oversize 1.0). So there is no left & right — they are the same.

Paul Miller has a NOS set of 1st over pistons. One is labeled “0.5” & the other is labeled “E”.

So your “E” & “F” might indicate different sizes.
Accurately measure your pistons + cylinders, and you should be able to sleuth this out.

They are in the cylinders now... So I either got lucky and put them back the same...
Of one is too tight.
I will do some accurate measure.

The cylinders were honed.

Check that the ring gaps are not travelling over the ports.

Any time you reassemble with old pistons you should do a light hone and run the bike as a new break in. anyone can do a hone with a drill and a cheap 3 stone hone that can be bought for under 30 bucks
