Is this a stopper?

Post by granitize »

So... my initial optimism is crushed! :-)

Finally got the underside visible and exposed so I could scrape off the grime.

1969 - T20 Super Six.
A lovely crack in the case!
Am I done?
Do I have any options?

The pic is the underside ...front side up.

A little bit hard to tell from your picture, but that may just be a casting flaw. Seen similar "cracks" that really weren't. No oil leak would be one good sign. Of course, splitting the cases and observing the inside will tell for sure. My guess is you will be fine. If you're not, the cases can be repaired by a skilled welder. Good luck! Chuck

I have also seen casting flaws that look like cracks. You may be OK.

If you stroke it more than twice; you're playing with it.

Too many bikes, too much time, ENOUGH SPACE, FINALLY! Never enough money.........

Thanks guys,
Was hoping to not have to tear all the way down...
Do these help diagnose any better?
I'll tale the block into my local guy...
As you, he's not too worried even if they are cracks.
Will let you know.

Some spider cracks and hopefully better images...

Can't say for sure, but would bet on casting flaws. Chuck

Cool.
Now I can sleep anyway! :-)
I'll still open up the case for a better look... but will now do it with a positive attitude! lol

Thanks

Long delayed closure...
Not cracks.
Casting flaws. Woot!
