Paul Miller usually sells them on ebay for about a hundred bucks a pair, i bought rear shocks for my T200/X5 for the same price from him, it is cheaper then restoring your old ones.

The shocks look to be 11 3/4 inch center to center, and they also appear to be L&S shocks, or at least look just like them. - there is an identical pair of L&S shocks on ebay, except that they are 12.4 inches center to center.

I haven't seen PM selling any for a while now.

Strangely, the Suzuki parts catalogue shows two seperate parts to the shock assembly. - the absorber assembly and the spring itself, part numbers 62100-11600 and 62211-11602, respectively, which makes me think that there is a way to remove the top part from the rod.

I agree that buying NOS would be better, but it may not be an option.

I've taken them apart before. The top eyelet unscrews from the shaft. It's a pain in the butt! The K&Ls should be very similar, and a lot easier. On both my 750s, longer shocks have improved the handling.

Lane, how did you grip the shaft that screws into the eyelet?

Did you have to compress the springs?
It looks like there is a special tool just to adjust the things.

Thanks Jughead - good information,

I have just got some stainless screw from evilbay

Can you suggest a good 'anti-seize' or is grease a good option?

Thanks

Go to a good auto parts store and ask for Champion spark plug anti seize.
Steelman anti seize thread treatment is just as good as well if you can find it.

TS250 Pistons

Post by Admin »

Are there any other models that share the same pistons as the '73 TS250? I'm looking for a deal on a 1.0mm oversize piston and rings and would like to expand my search to other models if possible.

Thanks!

Chris looks like the RL250 is the Only Other Model that Crosses over.the Part Number is 12110-30720 and fits the TS250 R-M 71-75 and the RL250 L-M 74-75.
The 1mm Rings However fit the Following
Part # = 12140-30010-100

WOW!

Thanks Jughead!

Any idea what the difference is between the earlier and later ('76+) TS250 pistons? I think the bore and stroke is the same but the piston part number changed...not sure if they'd be backwards compatible or not???

Chris I put in the Number for the Later 76 Model which is 12110-30001-100 and it came back as the Same as the Earlier Pistons and Didn't Include the "A" Model :? Although the Standard Size 12110-30001 Does include them All.
The Later 77-on Number is 12103-30820-100 and Includes the DS250 T 1980 and Covers the TS250 B,C,N,T,X butnot the Earlier ones.I think the later Models moved to reed Induction into the Crankcase. So the Later Pistons may Have Boost Windows in the Piston. If you can send me a Picture of your old Piston I may have one that doesn't have a Part number.I have a Pretty good size box full that I can't Identify.

I imagine it's the same thing as my TS400 and even the GT750s. On the later models they added thrust washers to the wristpins, and the pistons have to be machined for the spacing to be correct. Late model pistons will work fine on the early model bikes, but you may have to widen the gap between the wristpin bosses of the piston to use an early piston on a 76.

I've had to do this mod to a couple of my TS400 pistons because the early ones are easier to get. In fact, I have one to do right now.....

Jug...here's pictures of my '73 TS250 0.5mm oversize piston. I'm looking for a 1.00mm oversize for a rebore...

The top of the dome is ~1.5" above the centerline of the pin and ~3.25" above the bottom of the skirt.

Let me know if you have anything in your stash...

D'oh!!!

Well, thanks for looking. I'll keep my eyes on eBay. If all else fails, I can pony up the dough and go to the dealer. Maybe Lane is right and the later years (which seem to be more plentiful and cheaper) will work out.

Thanks,

Chris

They went to a reed valve engine in the later years and they probably do have boost ports in those. I see pistons on ebay all the time for a TS250.
