Re-Chrome Service
Has anybody ever used these guys. http://www.chromeplating.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
For example I want to have lower fork tube bodies rechromed . The lower tubes have several tiny rust pits, Sounds like they take care of that too (maybe not perfect but better than what I have now). They give a price list too. Not sure if they hold to that?
Is there anyone in the New England area (save me little shipping cost/time).
Anyone else in USA you have used and happy with turn out and price?
But, If those guys in CA are good OK.
Thanks

Re: Re-Chrome Service
seams like pearljam724 knows someone. I asked (via the post below) but he never replied. I'll send him a PM.
From what I can see many people have done this but no idea who is being used for the service. If you want crank rebuilt people will chime in and say Bill Bune for example. But, if you want some items rechromed? I am sure someone can help us.

Bump…
Still looking for a re-chrome service.
Not looking for mucho-big-$$$ show chrome which seems easy to find, but nice rider quality.

Re: Re-Chrome Service
I have had good luck with S & H chrome in Tennessee. They did all the chrome work on my last couple restorations. Ask for Jake. I have also had success with 2 stroke pipes (very hard to find someone that can repair and chrome) at a shop in Houston, Texas but the name escapes me at the moment. PM me if you'd like me to look it up. Chuck

Found S&H Chrome’s website. https://www.shchrome.com/press/
Do you have any insight into their prices?

Re: Re-Chrome Service
My last bill:
Kickstarter pedal: $45.00
Axles: $15.00 ea.
Kickstart boss: $15.00
Kickstart Pin: $2.00
Bolts: $2.00 ea
axle nut: $2.00
Prior bill:
Lower fork caps: $50.00 for both
chain adjusters: $100.00 for both
brake arm: $40.00
headlight bucket: $125.00
radiator guard: $175.00
fender braces: $170.00 for both
front fender: $175.00
rear fender: $150.00
These were all GT750 parts. Now, I recently learned that they had a death in their shop...a really key guy named Roundman. Don't know what that means but it makes me nervous as this guy was really key to their operation. FYI. Chuck

Re: Re-Chrome Service
Paul Miller uses them... he told me to "... call new England chrome 860 528 7176" I called them and $75-$85 for T350 fork lowers each (Paul was asking $199 for T500 set on eBay and why I asked him).
They wanted pictures before quoting other items. I think the prices stated in this post so far seam to be going rate +/- 25%. If I can get my rear fender done for $150 that's not too bad for there is one on ebay for like $450.
The only thing is their lead times was 6 weeks and getting longer as season gets going.
Others do this?

Re: Re-Chrome Service
After being ripped off by Paul Miller, I had to do a little research to build my case. I found that Tim at New England had just recromed 8 of my
mufflers that I left with Paul and were suposedly no good as thay had rust inside (2 stroke mufflers tend to do that don,t they).
He was also having a lot of engine covers I left polished at Alpha plating in Plainville Ct.
He will have a lot of nice stuff for sale that he didn,t pay for.
You can deal directly with these guys and save yourself the agony of dealing with a scamer like Paul Miller.

Re: Re-Chrome Service
bugspray,
What did New England Chrome do for you, how much and how long did it take? Happy with the work?
Paul Miller told me about them. He wasn't looking for a cut.
I am looking for references on NE Chrome (or anyone else). Looking for a fair price, decent work, ethical business. I am ready to move forward with them, unless people bad experience(s).
I know, it's always a chance dealing with us humans, But what are my odds I suppose with NE Chrome or anyone else.
I would buy NOS, but if you find price many times higher and can have significant scratches or Shelf Damage.
I think someone could do well taking old part and having them re chromed and selling the components. Well I won't change my day job yet
