1976 gt5oo front forks

Post by Ron »

i disassembled my front forks a year ago and kept the parts in plastic bags. i went to reassemble the forks using manuals (parts, clymer, suzuki service ) and see in the manuals that each fork has a spring, washer and one metal spacer. the top caps for the forks can be easily screwed on with mininum effort. my problem is that i have 2, 1 inch spacers left in my parts bag. if i put these spacers in the fork tubes under the springs, it takes an effort to compress the spring to put the fork cap in place. does anyone know if these spacers actually go in the fork tubes even though they are not shown in any manual? ron
