Fork seals 74 GT750

I am attempting to replace the fork seals on my 1974 GT750. Have forks loose, one of them off. Pulled it apart and can honestly say that I have no idea what I am looking at. Appears to be, under the circlip, two seals. The manual said pry them out, but that seems to be requiring far more pressure than it should. Since the seals are being replaced, I tore some of the rubber loose at the top and there appears to be a solid metal washer fitting in the fork. This bad boy does not want to come out. I used to have to use the old boiling water technique to remove seals on a dirt bike. Is that a realistic step, or am I just missing something?

Hey, guys. Old school is a good school, I guess. Put the seals in how water and 5 minutes later, popped them right out. I did get some great info looking through the archives, though. I didn't know anything about the spacer/washer required. I will order them now.
The more I do to this bike, the less I know about it.

The spacer was added by Suzuki when the seal was redesigned to be thinner than the original ones. If you look at the originals its actually in two pieces with the lower part removable from the upper main section of the seal.
I have no explanation why they chose to alter the seals design, it seems to be one of those "things" that were done as the years went by.
