T500 Wheel Offset?

Post by GreenMachine »

Hey guys,

Quick question - Is anyone able to tell me if the hubs on T500s are offset in the rims? Just restringing my wheels, forgot to check whether the front hub is offset. Measured the back before I pulled the old spokes out, it seems to be central.

Any info would be much appreciated!

I'm about to lace the wheels for my T500 and had the same question about the rear wheel. I forgot to measure when I tore them apart.

From my measurements yesterday, it was something like 22mm from both outside rim edges to the inside of the hub rim, so no offset on the rear wheel - Would love to have this confirmed though!

It is rare for Jap bikes of that era to have any offset. I can't guarantee that for your bike, but I'd build them with zero offset, and give them a quick true and slip the bare wheels into the chassis and check wheel alignment.

Is that the same for the J 750? I redid the rear wheel with no offset but now I can't get things to line up :? If the wheels are in line, the sprockets arent fully in line and vice versa. Any thoughts?

Hi Pedro,

Thanks for confirming that issue about offsets. Yes, I do have the correct rim - checked the stampings plus compared to a mate's GT750. I'm assuming the sprocket carrier is the correct one but am not sure how one tells with this item.
