Lower leg, top nut: Tool to grip them

Post by Rolf »

Hi

I'm having unexpected diffulty untightening my T20 lower fork tube top nuts - ie. the circular things. They are stuck!

Suggestions for a tool that will not ruin them?

Cheers

Hello Rolf,

You could try a strap type wrench, commonly used to unscrew oil filters etc. This is just a sample showing the type I mean.

Wanted to share a tip:

My end solution to this was to get a piece of aluminium pipe, inside diameter 50 mm (as the seal holder has an outside diameter of 50 mm).

A ring of this pipe, with a longitudinal cut through the side, slide down outside the seal holder and then a big pipe wrench on - and voila, no damage, thing loose.

Good way to do it.
If you stroke it more than twice; you're playing with it.

Too many bikes, too much time, ENOUGH SPACE, FINALLY! Never enough money.........
