Engine Oil ID (CCI)

Post by Flywheel »

The PO on my GT185 didn't own it very long nor did he use it much. Whenever I bought it, I asked what kind of oil (CCI) he was using. He stated since he owned it he didn't have to add oil and he couldn't remember the PO's choice that owned the bike before him. I'd like to try to keep running the same oil brand if at all possible. My question is what brands are red in color?

Who knows, just pour it out and put something else in it and stick with it. What's in it may be 30 years old so dumping it all out would be a good idea.

If anyone's interested, I did a little research online checking different manufacturer's MSDS spec sheets. Seems (so far) the only red colored oils I found are:
- Castrol RS TTS 2T
- Klotz Technoplate KL300 & KL302

I doubt that it what was in it from 30 years ago, seems to me the original CCI Suzuki oil was red in the 70's when I had a 73 TS185.

The oil in my bike shouldn't be that old. The bike had an inspection sticker dated 2011 and the previous owner (2 owners before me) was a lady who supposedly rode it regularly until she laided it down and hurt her knee. Her husband was a Harley guy who upkept the bike for her, from what I was told...
