Everything you want to know about oil but were "afraid to ask"!

AMSOIL 2-cycle injector oil VS. AMSOIL 100 to 1 2-cycle oil?

Post by ericsattic »

Hey board members, I bought a couple of cases of "NOS" oil recently at a garage sale. Its all AMSOIL brand, in opaque plastic one quart bottles. They are in great condition and I opened one up and poured some into a glass jar and it looks great; nice green color; no residue left in the plastic oil container, etc...

Some of the oil containers are marked "AMSOIL synthetic 2-cycle Injector Oil." So I know it is safe for me to just pour that into my oil tanks for use and I am good to go.

But some of the oil containers are marked "AMSOIL 100 to 1 Synthetic 2-Cycle Oil." I have not opened this oil but the container and oil in it looks identical to the injector oil. What I would like to know is can I use this 100 to 1 oil in the same way I would use the injector oil? I am skeptical and ready to send it to the recycle tank - better safe than sorry. But am I too paranoid and wrong? Thanks for your thoughts...

That 100 to 1 oil is for premix only, don't run it thru the oil pump. Amsoil clams it having almost no solvents in it and having poor flow characteristics.

Nice score !!!!
Do NOT send that 100:1 synthetic to the recycle barrel.
I'd keep it around as a general lubricant for things like cables and exposed threaded fasteners when you need some light oil.
Just make sure you keep it separate from your other lubes so you don't use it in the wrong place by mistake.

Thanks for the tech data, Argo. Amsoil seems to be a LOT better in that regard. Most other lubricant manufacturers seem to think that the public doesn't need to be bothered with "all that boring technical information". Idiots !!!

Thanks for the advice. Most of the AMSOIL oil is injector oil. But there are about 6 bottles of the premix oil and luckily I found someone local who will take it for premix use (all my bikes are oil injected).
