Is oil from the exhaust drains normal?

Hi again

As above. When starting from cold I get a bit of blue exhaust smoke - as expected. This soon clears but a lot of smoke (big cloud of it) when accelerating hard especially at mid to high revs (cars behind get a lovely smell of 2T!)

When I get home. even only about 4 miles the side and main stand legs are oily and there are quite a few drop of oil from the weep holes at the bottom of the exhaust pipes. I know smoke is good on a 2T but is this excessive? I have not yet taken out the baffles for a clean but they are quite oily at the outlets.

Thanks again

David

A good 50 mile run will sort it out. What 2T oil are you using? A decent semi synthetic hopefully, then you can turn it down a bit at the pump end of the operating cable.

Thanks again Alan

The oil is Silkolene Scoot 2 apparently (previous owner)

I have checked that the pump mark lines up when carb slide is at the top of the hole on the side of the carb

I use Putoline TT light in all my triples, but I would think that any decent semi synthetic oil will be much of a muchness with all the others.
If you tend to do more short runs and concerned about smoke/oil drips, just get the carb dot just above the top of the carb hole and make the pump lines align. That'll give a tad less oil all the time and should be OK as the modern oil is so much better than the original spec 70s stuff.
Personally, I leave it standard and give my bikes some stick on a regular basis. They smoke for a bit, then it gets less. So probably kills slightly less polar bears etc.
But that's two strokes for you!

Giving it some stick sounds like a good starting point! :D
