IMHO 2T oils are much of a likeness but everyone has their preference. As long as you mix the same type of oil i.e semi synthetic with semi synthetic you will be okay. Most chaps will have a preferred brand and stick to it which i think is a good idea. I personally use fully synthetic rock oil but i know of someone who likes mineral oil. Basically make sure its not lawnmower 2t oil and yes I know someone who was using that too!

No. It doesn't mean they are both equal. It just means they both met the necessary standard. Semi-synth can safely be mixed with another semi-synth but one oil may be better than the other.
Scooter oil will work ok with a GT380, it may not be the best oil for the job but it will undoubtedly be better than the oils made in the 1970s.
Many guys have their favourite oils. My own personal dependable favourite is either Castrol Power 1 2T or Silkolene Comp 2.
In general if you get a good quality oil your engine will be better protected.
Poor quality oil will lubricate poorly and create greater carbon build-up.
Whatever you do, don't use the cheapest oil you can find.

You're welcome, its what we are here for. One thing I love about being here is the fraternity; so much enthusiasm and so much knowledge to share. I've yet to meet one that I even mildly disapprove of, let alone dislike. I hope you find the same.

I naively thought that 2T would be simple! Having had modern bikes for decades the dealers did mall the work - at a price of course.

I think this forum was exactly the right place to join for the more complicated 2T stuff I now need to know.

Happy days!

OK, I have it sorted. I got the spec sheets from Fuchs Oil and Scoot Sport 2 is indeed what they call orange in colour (gold) and is ok to mix with Scoot 2. So the PO was right about what he put in it.

See - I'm learning lol

I had Belray SI-7 in mine and I topped up the tank with Amsoil Dominator...After a day or two I grew weary and drained and cleaned out the tank. Filled it back up with Champion WP2. Not to say the mix of those 2 oils was going to be an issue. Just didn't sit right with me.
