T350 crankcase seal.

Post by alanr »

Ive decided to look at the clutch side oil seal as possibly the cause of excess smoking in the right cylinder.two questions, how can I tell if it is the seal(visual inspection),how do I remove it without excess swearing.

here is an option. you can do a "Leak Down Test"
your auto parts store might have a kit or you can buy one there not too expensive.
basically you plug a few hols on your engine hook up a line to a compressor and pressurize your engine block. you will be able to tell if excess air/pressure is leakin up your cylinder through the rings... or in your case get a spray bottle with a few drops of dish soap and spray around your engine id you see any bubbles there ya go leak found !
