Hi Everyone
I seem to have put in 'resistor' spark plugs into my head (as the closest plugs i could get in lebanon to the recommended NGK ones were 'R' types). But please tell me if my plug leads are correct for this as they seem to look like they are non-resistor leads. or are they resistor leads? They have 'NGK' written on the top but that's all i can tell you
thanks for your help, as always
best

Re: HT leads for GT380
There is usually a number on the side like L05 or something like that to indicate it is 5k ohm resistance.
The easiest way is to remove them and measure the resistance. Old caps have a tendency to corrode internally and resistance rises. Look for a place that does boat or scooter repairs or agricultural equipment and see what they have on the shelf.

Re: HT leads for GT380
ok, but tell me about what the configuration should be (please). If the spark plugs are resistor, shouldnt the caps be 'non-resister'?
If i find that these are 5000 ohms, then how does that effect the 'resistor' plugs which i have in?
thanks!

Re: HT leads for GT380
Looks like an NGK non-resistor cap on the right cylinder.
If it is, then the letters, "LZFH", should be printed on the large diameter section that is not shown in the pic.
Have a different plug cap on the center cylinder.

Re: HT leads for GT380
but are resistor type plugs best for the gt380?
And it's correct to say that they should have resistor-free leads, yes?
thanks

Re: HT leads for GT380
Ideally you would chose to use zero resistance caps if the plugs have resistors in them. My race bike has resistor plugs and leads and uses a DYNA S ignition and it fires fine, but points may be a little weak with that set up.
If it runs fine, don't worry about it, but if the spark is weak maybe it's time for new caps

Re: HT leads for GT380
The stock HT leads use copper wires -- they are resistor-free leads.
The stock coils + points ignition don't have much reserve capacity.
So you should use either:
1) resistor plugs with non-resistor caps, or
2) non-resistor plugs with resistor caps

Re: HT leads for GT380
I'd like to replace the caps and the leads as they look like the original ones. The thing is though the lead on number one coil is soft and rubbery as it enters the slim hole on top of the coil and it is locked. Can i just yank the whole thing out? It's a bit weird
any advice appreciated

Don't know if you have stock coils.
Post pics of your coils.
