Suzuki 2 Strokes

Does anyone know if the bike cooling is any better without the ram air cover on a GT380?

Hi,stick with the cover,manufactures do things as a rule for a very good reason,because they have spent at lot on development & testing...This why Suzuki sent 6 GT750 J's to Death Valley in Calofornia,for testing,day time temps in Summer can top 120 F !! back then they could only get one bike out of 6 to have its fan cut in? Consequently the fan was dropped as standard equipment on the later bikes & became an optional extra if you wanted one...?

The cooling is slightly better with the Ramair cover fitted, it creates a venturi effect over the cylinder head. However, when Suzi hotted up the GT250 with the A model (extra transfer ports, more power), they removed the Ramair cover So you can probably conclude that if you're not racing, you're unlikely to get critical heat build-up (especially in the UK ).

I think the aircooled triples look unfinished without the cover, but that's just my personal opinion.

How do you hot up a 2-stroke engine? I seem to remember reading about it a long time ago and it involved enlarging the port length but I can't remember much about it.

The GT250 with Ram Air was one of the slowest 250cc Suzuki's they ever built,struggled to do anything like 90mph....& was heavy compared to an X7
