Cleaned out my stock 26mm mikunis last weekend.
Everything good except, i noticed that the rubber gaskets that seal the tops of carbs (with the cable adjusters and idle screw) had been previously glued on with some kind of compound.
are the threaded tops to the carbs common sources of air leaks?
I have never made a point of using gasket glue or otherwise, but does my shop know something i don't?
..probably, but what say the rest of you?
Mikuni gasket question.

Re: Mikuni gasket question.
Nope. No need to use gasket goo IMHO. There's usually a thin rubber "gasket" under the tops, but even it it's missing, not a lot of air is going to get in and past the slides.
It's possible that a PO had a problem with lean mixture and the shop tried everything to diminish it.
