I dont think any oil will get out of the starter clutch /water pump drive area .
the older i get the faster i was

DAve,

I see now that I look at it again, that you have a flat around the old bearings which should seal it. On mime that inner surface is machined away and that, as they say, changes everything.

Ok Dave, whats up with the Tach drive. What is going on there...never seen anything like that yet.

Good question Kevin.

Pictures of that bike have been appearing for a few years. It originally had no oil tank (bike was incomplete), and then an aluminum tank and then a plastic one to the right in that picture. That Tacho "thing" was there in all three pictures.

Looking at the back of the block, it appears that the oil feeds are blocked off - or at least the one we can just see appears to be. In another picture I found, there's an oil feed banjo on the right side of the motor.

It almost looks as if the tube from the oil tank, goes forwards to the starter motor area and loops back to that device. There are three smaller tubes exiting from the right side of that device that disappear into the starter cavity.

So it appears to be a big end oil pump.

We need one of our European friends who may have sen it at Chimay or Spa to tell us more.

Hi Richard,

My guess was that it was an oil pump that only fed the crank bearings and the fuel was premixed for the cylinders. The intake to the pump would be the larger line that wraps around the RPM driven pump and the smaller 3 lines drop down into the starter motor bay...but there appears to be an extra feed there and im not sure if it is a filter intake line or what.

There is an advantage in feeding only the crank bearings based upon RPM and using a fixed premix for the cylinders.
