We have been investigating Spacers and gaskets and it's amazing what you can find if you dig hard enough and talk to the right people.
Spacers are available in Aluminum in the following nominal thicknesses:
1.6mm
2.0
2.5
3.0
5.0
6.4
9.0
Base gaskets are available in
Rubber coated steel, 0.25mm, 0.50mm
Fiber, .30mm and thicker
AFM (Aluminum Foam sandwich) .50mm, 0.80mm, 1.5mm
AFM is great for a scored or scratched surface and will compress more than a stock fiber gasket for example. If the block is badly scored on the lower face, machine off 1.0mm and use an AFM 1.5mm base gasket.
If it's just lightly scored, skim 10 to 12 thou off the face and use a 0.8mm AFM gasket to take it back to stock.
Rubber Coated is best for fine surfaces (great if the faces have been machined or between a machined block and spacer plate).
Talk about selective assembly to fine tune porting and compression.
Choices, choices
