Boring stock carbs, etc.

Please don't waste your time and money boring stock carbs. A good set of 34-38mm round slide Mikuni's can be had on evilbay for a few bucks.
By the time you make a jig, set up the lathe, perform the task(being careful to remove NO MATERIAL from the bottom of the intake portion of the carb...),
you've already spent too much time on parts that are junk anyway!
Try 36mm Lectron's with 4-1 needles and 35 power jet. It'll run fine.
As to higher RPM with proper gearing you'll be going 150mph at 8,000 RPM anyway, so if that's not going to scare the daylights out of you, step up to a faster platform....
