Ive made some rear sets and other various bits for bikes for a while. Ive also got good 3d modeling software at my disposal. I just dont have the knowledge of port timing and reed cages that you guys do. I would be more than willing to work with you and try this idea out further.
If you could make sets of reed boxes like this that would be too cool , how much do you think something like this could be made by you ? Image

By amature, I mean, working hard at something, not getting paid for it, and always trying to improve on it.

And certainly for amusement purposes only.

Australians must spell it that way, but not us, sorry.

As far as that reed cage goes, Based on an idea of what is needed and size, I think that $125 for a set is an accurate estimate. Thats guessing that all three pcs would be identical. Definetly cheaper if i did a few sets at a time.

125$ would be a good price and i bet several would step up for a set i know you could count me in for 1 set already , and all 3 would be the same :D .. Dave

Actually, amateur is the correct spelling but I think Paul was using as an excuse to yank your chain a little. Aussie have that sense of humor (or humour for those of us with English spell checkers).

$125 sounds like a deal. It would cost me that much in hacksaw blades, drill bits and bandages.

The next issue is which reed cage are we going to standardize on? Reed cages are like boobs - some us like them small and cute and others of us prefer them larger.

The only thing of a 750 ive got , is the early 72 motor i mentioned. OBviously some details need to be worked out for mounting and as to exactly which reeds are gonna be used. The machining is pretty straight forward. I do 3D milling on a daily basis with full surfacing. Getting the fitment correct is the main thing. Once a cage is decided on, I would need it to copy bolt patterns from. Than we can discuss mounting and so forth. Sounds like a new project is brewin'

small boobs are ok, it gives you more time to look at other stuff. But with big boobs, sometimes you dont even realize thay have a face for the first 2 or 3 minutes.

1 vote for the same size boxes as in the picture and that fits the Arctic Cat 6 petal reeds , this size also fits across the intake side of the block well . I know John feels and produces smaller reeds with the feeling and the results that the reeds dont even need to be as large as the 6 petal so maybe 4 petal like out of the Yamaha Blaster would be enough ?

I have petal Polaris reeds, but I'd like to try a set of those smaller Arctic Cat reeds.

Some time soon I can see that I'll have to measure a set of AC reed cages and work out flow rates etc.

Dave,

How sweet would it have been to have the stock block CNC machined for boost ports and to locate reed boxes versus what we all went through.

Me likee.

If you stroke it more than twice; you're playing with it.

I'd be willing to throw my hat in the ring for a set at that price...or even close to that price. That's a good deal. I need to stay in the loop on this one. 8)

Morning gents.

My shop is real open to whatever bike you ride. Im not the only one here with jap stuff, let alone a 2 stroke. One guy here rides his old mans GT250 from time to time. I even hada pic up on my toolbox on my first day and the owner knew exactly what it was instantly. Everybody here is cool on all bikes. Not like some stereotypical harley owners.

Anyways, to put my 2 cents in, what about fitting it to a CR250 reed. (or some other 250cc 2 stroke) Same CC's per cylinder and tons of power per litre too. It seems like matching the airflow to the CC's is more important, Than just lots of air. its all gotta fit into the same size opening anyways. The bigger the inlet port may not alwas be better.

Just my 2 cents.
