T500 sprocket

Looking for some sprocket advice on my T 500. I purchased a new 530x 112 link chain and i replaced the front sprocket with the stock 15 tooth.
I also ordered a stock size 33t sprocket got the rear. After I placed the order, I realize that it currently had a 40t on it from Previous owner. I bought the bike as a complete basket case so I never actually have driven it yet, so I can't comment on how it ran with the 40T.

It has chambers and PODs. I went ahead and canceled my order for the 33 tooth sprocket and figured I might stick with a 40. There isn't a chance in hell that I will ever take this bike up over 80 MPH, heck, probably won't go much faster than 65 MPH, so top speed is not a concern. That's why I am thinking maybe I should get a 40T.

Thoughts?

The stock 15/33 is very tall. Many people put the very common 40 rear on. You will be happy with 15/40. Make sure your new chain is long enough.

I was running 15/35. Now running 15/33 (stock) on my 1975 T500M Jemco Chambers and early (70/71) top end (IMO much better earlier cylinders better than later than later for overall power).

I like the 15/33 better  8) .

33, 35, 40 tooth rear ,... Now are you confused :o ?

What I can say is the bike has plenty of torque and pulls well. With the 33 vs 35 I use 3rd more now than 4th when driving it spiritedly. When cruising 55 -70 mph, using the 33 vs 35 it keeps the RPMs 6% lower and as I said it pulls like a tractor so it is still fun using 5th smooth easy cruising for a good laid back time. A 40 vs 33 you will be 21% higher in RPMs for any same gear.
