Has anyone ever built a T500 .......

......... big bang or twingle motor?

Things have been a little slow lately so, idle speculation here: has it been done, what was it like, did it shake itself to destruction? Seems like it would be technical not too difficult, press together a crank inner webs with the desired firing interval & fabricate a way to trigger the sparks to suit. Or am I missing something obvious.

Thinking is a flattracker project with a big bang motor to help spin up the rear. Mostly a pipe dream, but hey all projects have to start somewhere.

Great questions. don't know answer but seems like it could be done. One point set runs both coils ?

Funny, guys who have the TX/XS650 Yamaha, both sided fire same time from factory go 270 degrees. ... say it runs better or is it they want it to be Harley sounding :ssh: Harley sounding 2 stroke

Yes _ Twingle could use one set of points, even swap to a single dual output coil like the wasted spark set up on Xs's. Have read that a 284/76 firing cycle is supposed to give optimum secondary balance, bit with no balance shaft ot other mechinism to restore some primary balance might be a mute point.

Can't really find references to many big bang 2-stroke other than the '92 NSR500, think there was a puch twingle which shared the crankcase so was more of a twin chamber single.
