t500 '75 timing- set the points which side is which?

which point is which for the left and right cylinder?

The point which is opening when you see the "L" coming into the circular window is for the left cylinder.

okay thanks, we weren't sure if the L and R marks were for TDC or the firing point, so we used a dial gauge, all good now! I just really hope I can remember how to do everything that I learnt today! :)

The mark next to the letter is where the points should just open up - the same as where the dial gauge says the timing should be set.
