primary gear ratios

Post by irish1 »

Hi and merry Christmas,
Can someone explain how a Nova straight cut primary gear combo of 31x68 versus stock ratio of 26x65 fit in a t500. With both gears bigger where did they get the room? I contacted Nova and they say its a direct copy of the factory setup. I inquired if the spline spacing was different, say metric/inch with no comment. I think there is a small diameter difference between helical and spur gears but that wouldn't be much. Obviously it fits but how?
