When you first try to start from cold (or hot) the rear light starts to glow ,when the engine is running the rear light stays off is this normal?

By "rear light", do you mean the brake light or the tail light?

In either case, the answer is no. This is not normal.

The tail light (but it only does it when kicking ) after its started everything functions normally

It's not normal and I never heard of that one before. As you kick, you're not pressing the foot brake switch at all? Perhaps the front brake switch needs adjustment or cleaning? (look out for the spring inside!!)

Your brake light switch probably needs adjusted. Along with your rear brakes. Wouldn't hurt to clean the contacts either. Check the tail light harness is wired correctly. Check to see if any terminals are making contact with any other terminals or metal on fender, etc. If not, something is not wired correctly. These bikes have very little wiring. Shouldn't take long to find the problem. Look over all the connections in the headlight bucket and make sure everything matches up and isn't making contact with any other metal.

Light has decided not to come on when kicking (I have no idea why it's suddenly stopped ) must be because I spoke to it with harsh words.
