Hi everybody,

I just stumbled over a second RG250 Gamma to buy, but the owner clains it only have 34 bhp, so it must be restricted.. But i can not find any data on how those bikes was restricted? Do you know? It is a MKIII version!

I'm not 100% certain on this, but I think some bikes (not just Suzuki, but Yamaha and others) sold in the German market were restricted to either 29bhp or 34bhp for a special license or insurance class they have in that country.

But if it is restricted, I have no idea how the restriction is done. I do know that in 1982 in the UK, a 12bhp limit was imposed on 125cc machines for new riders. Suzi restricted the GP125 single-cylinder bikes simply by inserting a little plastic spacer above the carburettor slide, so that the slide would not fully open.

All riders had to do was unscrew the carb top, remove the spacer, and they had a 15bhp bike :)

I guess it is something like that. I have a full power version, so i could look at that one and compare if neccesary.

BTW in denmark we have simmilar classes for Young riders, 18 - 20 years 0-15bhp, 20 - 24 years 0 - 48 bhp, and then you can ride what ever you want!
