Re: GT 750 info
The pistons are unmodified at this point and with the full skirts the lower ports are still closed off at BDC so to get the full 360 intake i would need to cut at least a 1" off the rear skirt or cut in windows instead.
the older i get the faster i was

Re: GT 750 info
i dont know anything about porting but cutting windows would maintain the integrety/balance of the piston rather than an inch off of one side of the piston ?.Suzukidave wrote:The pistons are unmodified at this point and with the full skirts the lower ports are still closed off at BDC so to get the full 360 intake i would need to cut at least a 1" off the rear skirt or cut in windows instead.

Re: GT 750 info
Mark,
Cutting windows into the pistons leaves more metal so the piston is stronger, but they don't flow as well as a shortened skirt.
That's why TZ750 pistons are cut away at the rear and RD pistons have windows.
I was trying to ascertain how much metal Dave would have to remove if he pursued that approach and the answer is Too much

Re: GT 750 info
I marked a set of pistons where it looks like windows would need to be cut it for 360 intake , as the skirt begins to close off the lower ports the windows begin to open the top ports and then the windows also reopen the lower ports again as the piston continues down to BDC and are again fully open at BDC

No need Dave, unless you want to. It's all good information on reeds and how they work, so we are still "on track". (intake.....lol)Suzukidave wrote:Geez .. i just realized i have completely hijacked Johns reed thread about his setup . Sorry John , i will get a moderator to move it

As long as no one is blown away by the info or sucked into something they don't understand, it's all good

Re: GT 750 info
Speaking of reeds, has anyone heard from Durgam lately? His silence is deafening. Hope all is well with him and his family. Just curious. Cheers.

Re: GT 750 info
IIRC he said that he was getting really busy at work and wouldn't be available to do much of anything on this project for a while. Hope things are getting a bit easier and he's OK

Well it's good to hear you're enjoying the season's cheer. I kinda thought I'd have you there though, so maybe it's not the eggnog.ja-moo wrote: Most be the Hi octane eggnog, I'm at a loss for who you are.........
