T500 hydraulic clutch mod?

Post by kall399 »

So I was thinking of putting a hydraulic clutch in my T500... has anyone on here done it? I am welcoming any tips and tricks.
Any suggestions on master cylinders that would look good with one of the universal brake handles sold for the GT see below
I was looking but haven't found a mirror version :(

Yep. Did it on my GT550 after the rebuild in 2020.
Here's how and why with pics - read all my posts on the page though!

I started the original resto on that bike in 2014 - completed in 2016 in time to go to the TT, (I was still working, then had an op on my knee!) and when the crank failed in 2020, more modifications were done. The bike was built as a 'purist upsetter' and does very well at that. Still running well and I think will be the keeper.
The original build thread starts here - https://www.kettleclinic.co.uk/kcforum/ ... php?t=5620 to show all the resto.

Thanks
Your way of doing this seems a lot easier than what I had in mind of using a piston to push the pushrod directly

As a retired Engineer, sometime I like to mess and just 'see if I still can'! :)

Much lighter and also smoother. And reliable! 2 years on and no problems.
And it really upsets the purists, so win, win everywhere!
