hi
I'm curious to know if it's possible that one way an oil pump can fail is to throw out too much oil into the tubes. I have rebuilt my engine, changes crank seals, gone over the ignition system with a fine tooth comb - but my bike still makes too much smoke when you rev it up.
Having said that, i must say it's running better than it's ever been before. but the smoke is still too much and i'm wondering whether i have a faulty oil pump.
any advice very much appreciated

but have you ever heard of them churning out too much oil? The previous owner disconnected the pump altogether and just mixed 2t in the tank with the gas, which i thought was really stupid when i bought the bike. But perhaps now, after experiencing the smoke, maybe he knew something about the pump

Re: gt380 oil pump...when they fail, what happens?
Do NOT run Suzukis with premix and no pump.
There are 'throwers' on the crank that fling oil AWAY from the bearings.
These engines were designed to be fed directly from pump to bearings on the crank.
If the pumps are set up correctly, then that is the right amount of oil the engine needs.
If you only do short runs or mainly town riding, the engine doesn't get chance to clear the residual oil out of the crankcases.
If you are really concerned, then loosen the SRIS connections under each crankcase and drain the oil out, that will make less smoke.
What 2 stroke oil are you using?
A semi synthetic will smoke less, and you can back the pump off a little if you use a better oil - modern oils tend to smoke less too.

Think of how stupid the average person is, then realise that half of them are more stupid than that.

Re: gt380 oil pump...when they fail, what happens?
thanks for that, although i know all about the cci system but just mentioned what the previous guy was doing.
I can't remember what oil i m using but for sure i am using the bike for very short runs. Sure, i know how to drain the chambers with the lower nut - but i'm trying to establish what is really the cause in the first place. i was wondering today whether those little plastic vavles on the end of the tubes might be the culprit. Are they supposed to be some kind of valve?
I will look for semi synthetic 2t oil, but i can't help feeling that's too sophisticated for Lebanon.
