question on 750 intake stub.......

Post by ja-moo »

I don't know what the connector tube looks like inside, does it have a matching "half circle" to match the cut out on the stub, or is it just a tube? And can the stub stand to lose 4.4mm in length? It's for my project........

John, which connector are we talking about,
72 bolt on flange,
73 small carb - large port or
74 on large at both ends

74 on have a small "ramp" at the bottom, the ports are round but not always concentric with the outer ring.

It's not the bolt on flange Richard, I have your cylinder bank and one Lane sent me, which is a bit different, but both have the same outer stub diameter, and both stubs are offset a bit to the left. So I'm not sure what I have..... :? Lane's cylinder bank does hav e a cast in "C" under the left cylinder. So those are the ones I am talking about.....

That "offset" seems to vary a bit for one block to another. I have two here where the bore is low and to the right c/w OD.

The Intake is the same notional 32mm from early to late and like most things on those motors, inconsistent in terms of placement.

The L-B "connector tube" is parallel inside and out with concentric bore and OD.

In summary, the bore of the connector is concentric with the OD of the stub and tube and NOT with the offset cast intake port which does not align well with anything.

What I'm looking for is the rubber tube that connects the carb to the port, is it just a tube, or a tube with a molded in indent inside for the indent in the intake stub? The main thing is would there be a problem if the intake stub is 4.4mm shorter. (the part the hose clamps on to.)

Think of it as double ended Mikuni VM mount with a half round rib to fit into that groove in the carb and the intake stub. Similar to a CB750 but straight.

That's the info I needed! So it's no big deal to remove the 4.4mm from the one end, cool!
