Flat tracker

Anybody have experience with building a Suzuki-powered vintage flattracker? I'm thinking about trying to build one using a Champion or other flattrack frame and a pre-74 single cylinder 2-stroke to be eligible for the AHRMA class I'm targeting.

My recollection is that the TM250 and TM400 engines were very powerful but with a narrow powerband while the TS250 engine had a lot wider powerband but not much peak horsepower. Seems that most everybody else uses Yamaha 250 or 360 engines. If feasible, I'd rather stick with Suzuki engines out of longtime loyalty and experience..........

Comments? Thoughts? Suggestions?

Ay Capt:
Have you checked out Dan Rouit's flat track mueum website? Scroll down a bit and there are a couple of cool looking racers that used Suzuki strokers:

Lord I love'em all!!

Just picked up a '77 Yamaha tt500 from VFT with a Yamaha SR500 engine with plans to try my hand at racing AHRMA Seventies Singles +50. It's not a Suzuki nor a 2-stroke but man oh man is it fast!

I may need a few "get well" wishes within the next few months (just kidding). This flattrack bug has bitten me hard. Beginning to wonder why I waited so long...........

Ahoy Capt:
Flat track seems to be picking up in popularity. Good luck with the new bike.

I found this photo of a T500-engined racer:

Love those twin chambers!

After seeing those pics of a Suzuki T500 flattracker, I think I know what I'd like to do with my T500 engine that is getting a complete rebuild from the crankshaft up. It's currently supposed to go back into the my restoration project (1972 Titan) but MAN those Suzuki powered flattrackers look good!

I'm real excited about flattracking. I'm way too old to take the abuse of MX but think it's entirely possible to race again within AHRMA's 70's singles 50+. I'll keep my felllow wanna-be's posted.
