Wiseco pistons for racing?

I had intended using Wiseco's in the TR500 replica I'm building up, but have got a couple of opinions that they are not great pistons these days. Anyone got experience with them in a race motor?

They are still better than oem pistons.
A lot of racers are now using these.

it rather depends on how hard your going to go with the engine, I use mitaka pistons for any development and these days use wossner pistons as they are better than wiseco these days, had a few problems with ring pins retracting on wiseco and rings popping into ports as a result, quite messy.

Mmm, that sounds a bit worrying! Wiseco have actually now come on board as a part sponsor of the team and are making up a special batch of different design pistons for us so hopefully they will be OK :|

It's USA, where our design engineer is based. Pistons have different ring configuration, skirt height and boost port.

Hi Chris

I have a T500 / TR replica which I run in the Spanish classic Championship,(5 race weekends per season plus training etc) I have run the same Wiseco prisons for 2 seasons without any problem.
I run ELF 909 oil premix only at 3% and have no issues, on the one faster track Catalunya (Barcelona) I run 4% as the straight is more than 1Km and there are a lot of 4th Gear corners. I have some race wins and other podiums. the engine rev`s to 9000rpm.
We will only strip the engine now as I am using a different bike for this season.

cheers

Eamonn
