525 vs. 530 Chain
What's the advantages of going to 525 chain/sprockets vs. the standard 530 other than weight savings? How does one convert?
Thanks,
Thanks,

Ralph,
Jughead posted a sticky about 520 chain conversions in the "tuning and performance" section here:

Why You Should Rubber Mount Chambers
I know better, heck I design tracked combat vehicles so I know what
vibration can do to things. I even rubber mounted the Jemco
chambers before, but I was in a rush to get the chambers mounted
Friday so I could do the track day Saturday.
I was trying out my new Swarbrick expansion chambers, these really
broadened the powerband, in fact I had just turned my fastest lap
ever at T-Hill.
Exiting turn 6 on the gas suddenly I heard a loud kind of metallic
noise. I thought once again I had lunched another piston, but the
bike kept running okay except it was a little rough. So I threw up
my hand and got off the racing line and back into the paddock.
Once I got off the bike it was very apparent, the right side
silencer was missing. Seems like the metal tubing holding the
silencer flange failed due to vibration, permitting the silencer to
jettison. Not only that but the right hanger had a nice crack in it.
At least the corner worker found the silencer, so I have that. Now
I'll have to get the replacement tubes/flange and get things welded
up before Willow.
So the lesson here is...rubber mount your chambers.

Who Else Is Going To Race a T500 at Mid-Ohio?
Okay the AHRMA race season is underway, time to get serious about filling the F-500 grid at Mid-Ohio with a gaggle of T500's.
Besides myself, let's see who else will be showing up with a completed bike to defend the honor of Sundial Moto Sports?
Zook-e, I figure you'll have a bike there, who else???

I happened across a very good soft mounting system while looking around when i was mounting up my pipes on the GTXR . I was in Auto Zone and saw there car exhaust pipe hangers and there was the perfect hanger , one end was perfect after a simple mod for attaching to the pipes and the other end has the hanger part of straight steel with holes every inch or so that worked perfect for the frame attachment . The rubber section in the middle has plenty of support and still flexable . .. Dave

My TS400 likes to eat pipe hangers (and light bulbs!
), so I made an aluminum hanger (1"X1/8") that is a full loop around the silencer tube, with heavy vinyl tubing around it to absorb vibration, and that's attached to the frame via the original rubber mounts. I think this one will hold for a while. I might add the auto parts store rubber hanger to it as well.

Hey Ralph,
I fully intend to have a race ready T500 at Mid-Ohio. The real trick will be getting my sorry butt eligible to ride it there!!!!
Mowgli says he'll be there with his T500. Krash should be there. Otis (Keith) should be there as well. I think Zook-e was prepping a bike for someone else. Ogri has already said he can't make it with the job change...
So I count seven so far.....

Willow Springs AHRMA race later this month
Hurley Wilvert just called and asked me to post info on the Wilow Springs AHRMA 750 exhibition race.
He is co-ordinating the race, and wants everyone that is planning to come to remember that participants WILL need a racing license, from a bona-fide racing organization, to compete, AHRMA, AMA, WERA, WSMC and other "name" organizations are legal.
The bike must be tech'd to AHRMA specifications, and pass a tech inspection. The specs can be found on the AHRMA site. The bike MUST be a RACE bike, track ready, no street bikes.
This class is for bikes that AHRMA doesn't have a class for, namely vintage two stroke race bikes 750 cc, and multi-cylinder water cooled two stroke race bikes, like MSR500, YSR500 and RG500 Square and V4's.
Hurley would like to have participants contact him before they go to the track, so he can know how many and what are coming, and to make sure this whole thing goes off as smoothly as possible.
He also said that pre-entry ends Friday, the 13th (day after tomorrow), and after that date, participants will have to register for the race at the track.
An AHRMA license can be obtained of a new rider course is taken, on the 27th, at Willow. There will be a Willow Springs sponsored track day on the 27th, and then, racing on the 28th/29th.
