Hey guys thanks for your time ....
ok so ive just picked up an unloved RV125 .......
I had no spark so i bought a new coil still no spark so i pulled the fly wheel of and cleaned the points, i now have great spark....
The carb was blocked so i cleaned that out and the spark plugs is new and seems to be getting wet but still no "bang"
I have run through your trouble shooting and cant seem to see what i have missed??
The guy who had it before me had given up but he had puled the wiring apart... so the wire is going straight from the stator to the coil, i didn't think this would stop it from running as it is sparking well, what do you think?
Do i need to re-set the points/timing and if so how do i do this?
I am hoping to restore the old girl but if i cant get it running i don't think its worth it.... advice please
RV 125 wont fire "bang" points/timing/carb

Had similar issue after replacing points and condensor. Issue was resolved by adjusting the points, dialed the assembly clockwise incrementally and success, fires in first kick.
Compression, fire, and fuel is all thats needed, if u have that then ensure timing is ok....
Hope this helps

Re: RV 125 wont fire "bang" points/timing/carb
howdy again after some more tinkering the compression seems very weak, so i pulled the head of and poored some fuel on top of the piston and it quickly disappeared down the shaft/cylnder, wondering if the rings need replacing is there an easy way to tell, is it worth taking the cylinder off?
tried uploading pics not working try again in the morning..... i can email them....

I would test for compression with a vacuum gauge. If it seems low, add a couple drops of oil and check again. If reading improves you have worn rings....
The diameter of the cylinder, once honed or bored will dictate if you need oversized rings/piston.
My experience is with 4 strokes but the above should hold true....
