RV125 4hi 4low

Post by Ben »

Anyone know how the hi low switch works, can this be shifted while moving in any gear or like a car, must be stopped.

Have a shop manual. Cant find an owners manual.

Thanks

You MUST/MUST stop the bike itself (the engine can still be left running) to rotate the range lever/tee handle.
Once you are stopped, then shift the main transmission into Neutral.
Then twist the range handle.
You MAY have to rock the bike back and forth a very little bit to get the handle to engage properly.

You'll be able to feel the detent ball clunk into position when the handle is properly turned to the selected range.......assuming some yob hasn't left the detent ball and/or spring out at some time in the past.

Whatever you do, do NOT/NOT/NOT attempt to change ranges with the bike in motion !!!! You'll wind up with a very expensive collection of gear pieces if you do.
