175 enduro

Post by cwiseman »

I just picked up a 1975 yamaha 175 enduro. It's a true 1 owner bike that had less than 1700 miles & looked nearly new. Brought it home & added air to the tires. Pushed it outside and popped the clutch. After a 18 year rest she fired up & ran pretty well, but only with the choke on. I didn't go to sleep that night from 6pm till midnight I cleaned it very well. At 12 I removed the gas tank and cleaned the rust out. Next was to take what felt like half the bike apart to reach the carb & cleaned everything just as Super Dave tought me. Put it all back together & went inside for a shower. About 530 am I was dressed & ready as she said your out of bed early. I just kind of grinned as I walked outside & put gas in the bike. Off to breakfast I went on the 4th of july for grub. After breakfast I put about 45 miles on the little enduro before making it home. Since then I've put about 200 more miles on it to work and back with a few times on some trails & hill climbs. Seams I found great bike for about everythinmg.
Waiting for next years Deals Gap, i'd like to go on a cades cove ride & thru the dragon on it.

Nice one! Be sure to take Parson's Branch trail that connects Cades Cove to the Dragon.

those tires might be a bit too much off road to ride the dragon with.
maybee its time for a new set of mixed use tires?
sweet find by the way ,love those 175s more than the 250s
cheers mark
She will never be pretty but hoping she will be a fun ride.

If only that beautiful tank and that LH sidecover had gone with the earlier exposed exhaust. That would have been a bike for the ages. The left side of the bike is a 9.2 and the right side is a 6.5.
