Suzuki 2 Strokes

I brought a new bike home yesterday. New to me, anyway. It's a Suzuki, and it's a two stroke!



1975 RL250. I sold my Bultaco a while ago and realized I missed having a trials bike. So I started looking for a replacement. A few Yamahas came up on the local craigslist, but they sold before I could go look at them. Then I found this Suzuki. It's no trailer queen, it's been well used over the years, but it's got the original bodywork, the tank is clean inside, and the bike runs really good. I'm pleased to have found it. I'd much rather compete on a Suzuki than a Yamaha.

I still have the T500 too, of course. Nothing much new to report there, it's still doing fine. I might finally invest in some Hagons this winter. The OEM replica shocks I got from PM have been beating me to death.

thats a nice original looking bike.
seeing your new bike makes me want another trials bike again .
i had bultaco then honda then beta.
but in houston tx its a long way to anywere worth ridding.
maybe a dualsport is more fitting.

hey scorch , not speaking for debs but they are like a cross between a lawn mower and a pogo stick.
tons of low tourqe and very light.
i could lift my beta onto the rack on the back of my car on my own.
no trailer just a cradle on the tow hitch.
experts throw them around like bmx bikes.

Yes, the bikes are much lighter, narrower and lower, and more tractable than dual sport bikes. At the Novice level, trials courses are mainly about making really tight turns on various slopes and soils, and handling the occasional log or rock ledge. I usually ride the sections in first gear, as slow as I can go. Coming from a motocross and enduro background, I have to keep telling myself to GO SLOWER! Running out of bounds or misreading the course markings and taking the wrong line are my biggest problems.

The advanced riders do some amazing things. I wish I could ride like that, but not in this lifetime I think.
