1972 TS 400 color
New here! I have a 72 TS125J and 2 72 TS250J's, tommorow I pick up a 1972 TS400J, I cant remember if the TS400 was strip orange like the others, I found at bikebandit.com the color chart that shows it as ascot red, has anyone duplicated the color in a current day restoration? and if so what was the color code of the paint and the manufacturer.

Re: 1972 TS 400 color
The original paint codes were for the original Japanese paint suppliers to Suzuki back in the day and are useless to modern day paint manufacturers/suppliers......sooooo......you'll have to find out what colours the J model Apache came in, start haunting fleabay and your local bike wreckers for ANY part in that colour that's not all faded to buggery and THEN have that part scanned at your local paint supplier to see if they can come up with a suitable match.
From the brochure on suzukicycles.org it appears that some kind of red was one of the colours.......but I'd have to get home (I'm flying back home tonight) and check the big crossover book to see exactly which red it was. More news follows as available. PM me if you haven't heard from me in a week or so just to jog my memory. if you still want to pursue this.

found an original suzuki sales ad from 1972 with a color picture of the bike. It was orange. my painter Randy Marble of Marbel Motors dot com- can duplicate it for me.

What kind of paint does Randy use? Is he pretty good at duplicating paint colors?Motosportman wrote:found an original suzuki sales ad from 1972 with a color picture of the bike. It was orange. my painter Randy Marble of Marbel Motors dot com- can duplicate it for me.

Re: 1972 TS 400 color
I painted my Suzuki Ts90 ascot red and I used Ford Red from Tractor Supply Co. and the match was almost perfect.
