I've had my Savage for around three years now but have never taken it off the tarmac. This is mostly because I didn't want to do anything to her and spoil the restoration. Funny how we can trap ourselves by doing a "too good a job" huh? I've enjoyed buzzing around town and going to work occasionally on her. The bike's quite nimble and keeps up with city traffic no problems - much more biddable than the GT750 about town. Anyhow, a few of my classic bike group got talking and comparing notes about our trail bikes that have been languishing in the sheds. It was decided to head out of town and see how it felt to be on a bit of loose stuff again. Nothing too adventurous but enough to have some fun. We found some back roads that had shingle, dirt, dips and hollows plus some good climbs. I have to say, I love going uphill on the loose stuff; feels great when the back wheel slides and slips as you open the throttle going around the corner. Coming downhill with 1970's braking technology was a bit more interesting though I must say.
Here's a few pics from our day out and about:

Anyhow, the day was a success and the boys are keen to do it again. We have organized a weekend away with the old girls at the end of February so check in for more pics then.
