RV125 - ignition switch not affecting ignition

Post by Ben »

Hi Guys.

Working on a late 72 RV125.

Issue: the 3 position key ignition switch does not shut bike down or keep it from starting.

All 9 pins I checked with a multimeter and have continuity, switch seems good.

Bad ground?

post a pic of the wiring diagram and we may be able to help.
Think of how stupid the average person is, then realise that half of them are more stupid than that.

Wiring diagram is here: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=10789

Looks like your bike shuts the magneto ignition off by grounding it to the switch housing.
If you've done something like powder coat the frame, then you have eliminated the switch ground.
