AUTO CHAIN OILER OR LEAKING REDUCTION/DRIVE SHAFT SEAL TC125

Post by ANCIENT TC125 »

I came back from a mountain trail ride this evening and noticed leaking oil under my TC 125. Lately I have noticed the chain is pretty oily. Can't see any mention of an auto oiler on this bike. So I checked further. Pulled the left cover off and it appears to be coming from the output shaft. Looking further, the sprocket nut is fairly loose, so I pulled it and looked behind it. The main shaft seal seems ok, but the reduction shaft seems to be where the leak is coming from.

if you look at the above output shaft, the reduction shaft is in the center of it. It has a seal and it appears this is where the leaking is happening.

My question is this a case of "letting sleeping dogs lie"? or should I try to replace this seal.
09289-09001 seem to still be available from the dealer (or Ebay) and not that expensive.

How would I get the old one out? (without breaking down the entire tranny)

Also how tight should the sprocket nut be torqued?

Any inspiration is greatly appreciated

Steve

If I could get the seal, I'd want to replace it.
If you stroke it more than twice; you're playing with it.

Too many bikes, too much time, ENOUGH SPACE, FINALLY! Never enough money.........
