a bit more home-machining.............
which, when combined with a brass hinge, allows this...........
to do this...............
the detail................
and it's temporary check strap...........
in action............
which allows for easy 2T oil top-ups

Re: TS185 cafe racer
a bit more progress - having stopped playing with my "spare" VJ23 I turned my attention to the little 'un thats cluttering up my workspace.
So, having sealed the joint of the outlet pipe, I ventured to fill the oil tank for the first time with some of Motul's finest..............
well - OK - it was only Motul 520, not the 710 as advertised on the oil tank label. Good stuff, nonetheless
then I bled the feed line and oil pump...........
gratuitous pic of 2 of the finest lubricants known to man................
and having turned 2 more cap head bolts on the lathe, I fitted the oil pump outer cover...........
and the timing side inner cover............

Looks great Garry, I think the color scheme suits the bike well. Going back a few posts what issues made the Yamaha wheel tough to fit?

Thanks for your kind commentdgoodsy wrote:Looks great Garry, I think the color scheme suits the bike well. Going back a few posts what issues made the Yamaha wheel tough to fit?
The Yamaha front wheel had a couple of issues - different spindle diameter (solved by fitting sleeved wheel bearings and machining a new centre tube - the one that stops the bearings being crushed, so I could use the TS spindle as it fitted the forks) and securing the brake plate (the locating slot in the Yamaha brake plate is wider than the peg on the TS185 fork leg which allowed the brake plate to move - solved by the addition of a fixed torque arm).
Otherwise, it's a breeze..............

Ah, very good. It's nice you can work out solutions and fab/machine your own parts. Keep up the good work, I will be following along.

Could you take a side pic from a few meters back? Like eye level with the seat? I really dig this bike
