Ts 185 timing

Ts 185 timing
I cant seem to get the timing right on my ts 185. I got the flywheel off and lined up the marks on the plate with the marks on the case. Then I started the bike and ran it at 4000 rpm with the timing light pointed at the mark on the case and the mark on the flywheel. It seems to be slightly advanced so I repeated the process only to get the same results. This is my first time doing it so Im worried I am doing it wrong. Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
