GT550 Digital Gear Indictor loom routing

Post by GT550Wazza »

I am after some guidance on the routing of the digital gear indicator wiring loom. Am doing a restoration and am trying to re route the digital gear indicator loom. Can't remember exactly how it came out and seems to be a long loom. Wondering if someone with a GT550L or later can either send some photos or explain exactly how it routes. Any help would be gratefully received. Thanks.

I have sort of figured it out, I think. If you start where the loom plugs into the loom coming directly from the Digital Gear Indicator under the Clutch cover, these should both locate into a metal type square bracket, welded on the left side of the bike, in front of the electrical panel. From there, it runs up the frame, follows the frame towards the front of the bike and passed the coils. It then goes though the rubber grommet, alongside the main wiring loom and comes out below the steering head. Then under the steering head and up into the bottom grommet at the rear of the headlight shell and connector locates into the metal wiring plate that is mounted in the headlight shell. This appears to use up most of the wiring. If you can't understand this desription of its routing, I can take some photos. Let me know how you go and good luck.
