Regulator Issue?

I have a 77 GT380, it has been acting funny lately. It starts fine, and runs fine until i stopped for gas, then it would not start. The lights no longer worked, and the plugs had no spark. i waited for about an hour or so, then it started. any idea what this could be? i read somewhere if the voltage regulator was bad, the ignition coils could get too hot.

How old is the battery, bad intermittent earth, dodgy connections..obviously electrical,if you have no lights as well as no spark ? Is the ignition key hot too the touch, just a hunch, had this problem on my 750A once ! Time to check with a volt meter ?
Cheers,
Battleship.

I never noticed the ignition key being hot, but i am going to check the battery and regulator today. i will also clean up all the earth connections. Hopefully i will be able to diagnose the problem today.

Turns out there was a loose connection in the battery connector clip. Should have been the first place i checked.

Don't worry, it happens more often than you think!
