75 GT550 | electrical issue, is my starter relay bad?

Post by GT550_First-Timer »

I have gotten power to all electronics, lights, etc. with help from this forum.

Now I am questioning whether my starter is getting enough power. I noticed that the first time I fire the starter it turns over quite well (does not fire up). With each successive (2 or 3) attempt the starter turns a bit slower until it just clicks and doesn't turn over. Voltage drops become more and more evident in the neutral light on my cluster.

With my multimeter I am reading just at 12v going into my starter relay. My battery is freshly charged. But reading the voltage on the the other side of the relay, from relay to starter, I am only reading 5v and this quickly works its way down to just 2v. While taking this reading is when I have continually noticed the dimming of my neutral light. (voltage drop?)

Am I taking this reading correctly? Should it be a resistance reading or is checking volts appropriate?
Should I be reading closer to 12v between relay and starter?

Thanks for any and all help. :D
