Resurrecting old thread, but what is the wiring correspondence for gear to wire color? I just ordered the chinese LED, if someone can save me experimentation it would be lovely . My 76 GT550 would love an led again.

From the sender ? I don't recall, but it wasn't hard to figure out. On the replacement LED side there seems to be a lot of variability in the colours used so you have to test each segment and then map it to you harness. I talk about that at this link and I think it is also elsewhere on this site as well.smoketriples wrote:Resurrecting old thread, but what is the wiring correspondence for gear to wire color?

Re: Digital Gear Indicator Replacement Very Inexpensive
Hello, I have just ordered one of these digital display units on ebay which looks like a simple fix for my 75 GT550. In the meantime, does anyone have any photos of their installed display unit which would be great to see? The photo bucket links do not seem to work. Also, I assume you can test each gear position using a DC 12 volt supply across each wire or do you need a lower voltage to do this? Cheers Syd

Re: Digital Gear Indicator Replacement Very Inexpensive
Is it possible to get this with enough indicators to work on a GT380? The GT380 has 6 gears, not 5.

There are indicators with 6 displays you just need to search on Ebay. I had listed the colours somewhere years ago for what each gear position was, the post might still be in the electrical section.
Two strokes, its just that simple.

I found one on ebay but it only lists 0-6, not N, 1-6. A minor niggle but not one I will get too stressed over.

Re: Digital Gear Indicator Replacement Very Inexpensive
Finally it arrived. Just finished wiring it in. Left the neutral light instead of using zero on the display. Nice bright red numbers on all 6 gears again! Next to fit it to the binnacle. A job for another day I think. If I don't spend some of my evening with the Missus, she might get bored.
